Master of Construction Management student Frank Robbins recently completed a project that took him back to his childhood.  Robbins was asked to consult on a children's book series call Building Green.  He contributed to three of the six books in the series: Building Greenscapers, Making Cities Green, and Using Earth's Underground Heat.

Robbins was asked to work on the series after the editor saw Robbins' articles on sustainable construction in the green building magazine Jetson Green.

"I remember growing up reading non-fiction books in elementary school on things like mining equipment, space exploration and dinosaurs and not being able to put it down," said Robbins.

The series covers topics like green construction, sustainable urban development, geothermal heating and power generation. The books are aimed at children ages nine to twelve.

Robbins has plenty of experience with sustainable construction as he currently works on the Chabad House renovation, which is adjacent to the Washington University campus. They are considering seeking Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification through the LEED for Commercial Interiors Program through the U.S. Green Building Council.

Robbins will graduate with a Master of Construction Management in 2010 from the Sever Institute of Continuing Studies.
